San Miguel de Allende captures the hearts and spirits of Cody Morris and Chris Landon.

“Our guests questioned where we were taking them, because San Miguel de Allende is not Tulum or Cabo,” recalls Texas-born Cody Morris, who along with his partner, Hollywood writer/director/producer Chris Landon (Paranormal Activity, Disturbia and most recently, Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse), wanted a unique destination for their union—someplace that would not be easily forgotten. “San Miguel hit all the right notes—it is honestly one of the most open, friendly, safe and loving places we have ever been,” says Morris, a senior director of marketing for tech start-up Alphaeon. The L.A.-based couple who met in Venice Beach on a not-so blind date (thanks to Facebook) wed at Belmond Casa de Sierra Nevada and integrated formal touches like tuxedos and a traditional ceremony with the vibrant customs of San Miguel de Allende, including a festive wedding parade through town with mariachis and mojigangas that culminated in a garden reception at nearby Casa del Parque. “The city’s energy and history amplified the love for both of us, and for our friends and family.”
