More than TWO DECADES after their FIRST MEETING, Anna Getty and Scott Oster start THEIR FOREVER atop the CLIFFS OF BIG SUR.

When Scott Oster, a former professional skateboarder and deejay turned interior designer, attended a five-day personal growth workshop in the summer of 2013 at Big Sur retreat center Esalen, he left, in his words, “clear on what I wanted—to fall in love and start a family.” A mere month-and-a-half later, sparks flew between Scott and writer, activist and philanthropist Anna Getty, whom he had known socially for 25 years, during a serendipitous encounter at West Hollywood nightclub Giorgio’s. “We met when I was 18 and he was 21, but we went off and lived our lives: I got married and had two children; he got married; and we both separated and got divorces,” she says. “When we kissed, I was like, I want to spend my life with this person.”

On a trip to Paris in 2014, after cycling to the Eiffel Tower, Scott proposed. The couple, who split their time between Los Feliz and Ojai, welcomed their son Roman earlier that year.

It was fitting that they return to Big Sur for their nuptials. “There was already this context of intention,” says Anna. The pair hosted a welcome concert featuring folksinger Gregory Alan Isakov at the Henry Miller Library. The following day, with her 11-year-old daughter, India, as maid of honor, and 6-year-old son, Dante, as ring bearer, Anna wed Scott at the Anderson Canyon Estate, overlooking the Pacific. Wearing a Grecian-style gown by Leila Hafzi, the bride walked herself down the aisle. “I wanted to give myself away,” Anna says.

The day incorporated myriad thoughtful details, from a bespoke torch Scott designed for the ceremony, to earthy arrangements featuring indigenous ferns and foliage. For the reception, the bride changed into a ’70s-style halter dress by Juan Carlos Obando—the better for dancing to tunes curated by Scott, and Giorgio’s house deejay, Adam 12.

“We were the last ones there,” says Anna. “I love that we closed it down—all of a sudden, there we were, drinking Champagne in the corner.”
