“I wanted to really let the dress shine and have the hair be simple and sleek,” Whitney says of pulling back her tresses for the ceremony.

Whitney Port gives Tim Rosenman her hand in an eclectic Palm Springs affair.

“Honestly, it was love at first sight, and we hardly even spoke to each other the whole night,” says Whitney Port of the fateful first meeting with now-husband Tim Rosenman at a mutual friend’s birthday in 2009. Shortly after, Tim, currently a development exec at Lionsgate, was offered a position as an associate producer on the MTV series The City, in which the former reality darling starred. The two talked about one day being together, but it wasn’t until after the Whitney Eve fashion designer moved back to her native L.A. that a romance ensued.

Two years later in 2013, Tim popped the question, twice: first at the couple’s home in Venice sans ring and a second formal proposal in Australia with an oval sparkler. And with that, Whitney enlisted her sister and BK Events founder Ashley Port to help create the ultimate fashion-forward fete. “The experience brought us even closer,” says Ashley.

In November, their wedding-day vision of midcentury glamour came to life at Colony 29, a private outdoor venue in Palm Springs. Following an untraditional rehearsal party at a nearby bowling alley the previous night, Whitney walked down the aisle with her mom in a custom Ashi Studio dress. Above them, clouds miraculously formed “I ♥ U”—Whitney saw it as a message from her father, who passed away nearly three years ago.

The reception that followed was just as magical: 14 outdoor living rooms evoked the golden age of Palm Springs, featuring Rat Pack-inspired vignettes and plant-heavy decor with succulents and ferns. Through all the laughter and dancing that evening, the one image that stands out in Whitney’s mind is of her new husband: “I just picture the sweetest, biggest smile on his face the whole night—it’s amazing to see that much happiness on the face of the person you love the most.”  • Lindsay Kindelon.
