A storied beach house serves as the dreamy backdrop of Jill Lincoln and Dominic Russo’s intimate nuptials

Celebrity stylist Jill Lincoln and comedy writer Dominic Russo met five years ago, when friends set them up on the sly. A year later, Dominic traded the Marina del Rey sailboat he called home for a place in Venice with Jill (whose client roster includes Jennifer Lawrence, Jennifer Garner and Kathryn Hahn, among others).

In 2016, conversation turned to making it official, particularly because Jill’s father’s health was declining. “We wanted to get married before he passed away, and we wanted to start a family,” says Jill. Almost immediately, they became pregnant with their son, Charlie, and a year later they decided to celebrate his first birthday (which falls in mid-October) with their own nuptials. “We settled on Oct. 14, which is my dad’s birthday,” Jill says, though he sadly couldn’t attend due to his health and passed away just days after the wedding.

The couple’s vision for their wedding was singular: to throw a truly unforgettable Malibu beach party at the famed Gesner Beach House.

The bride—adorned in an Atelier Versace silk crepe dress and bejeweled snakeskin Dolce & Gabbana slides—walked down the aisle, followed by the groom (in a Prada suit), who held their son as guests looked on, seated on pillows at low wooden tables facing the ocean. “We wanted it to feel like the most amazing party at a magical beach house, rather than a traditional wedding,” Jill says. The ceremony was officiated by two of the couple’s best and oldest friends, one of whom helped to set them up.

Just after Dominic and Jill became husband and wife, the sun dipped toward the ocean, creating a stunning show of color in the sky. Guests mingled and drank spiked aguas frescas to the music of a small band made up of Malibu locals. Later, after a dinner of steak, fish and flatbreads, a DJ got everyone moving on the outdoor dance floor while the sound of waves crashed in the background.
