Fashion’s newest iteration of the classic chignon turned heads at New York designer Ryan Roche’s Spring 2017 ready-to-wear presentation.

Hairstylist James Pecis pulled models’ tresses back into low, center-parted ponytails, then wove pieces of muted-pink-colored silk between sections before twisting the hair into a tight bun at the base of the neck. To achieve the dreamy ballerina-inspired look for your wedding day, the Northern California-born Pecis suggests, “If you are having a dress made, ask if there are any scraps left over you can have to use; the soft edge of the cut or torn fabric adds to the texture in the hair. Lace can work as well.” • CAROLINE CAGNEY
