Rebecca Sweeney and Zac Russell decided the Sunken Gardens adjacent to the Spanish Revival-style Santa Barbara Courthouse was exactly what they were looking for. “I didn’t even think about it being a courthouse, I just loved the setting,” says Sweeney, who worked at Burberry London before joining C earlier this year as market editor. Russell, a marketing specialist at Red Bull, proposed in their native London with a round-cut diamond atop a rose gold band before the couple hopped the pond to start their new life in California. Six months later, they invited 65 of their nearest and dearest for the intimate ceremony. Afterward, guests toured Santa Barbara aboard a trolley before dinner at Café Stella and drinks at Red’s Bar in the Funk Zone. “It was so nice to show friends from London a bit of California,” says the bride. “Everyone left feeling very jealous.” santabarbaracourthouse.org.
